Daddy’s shoes

Jan

Growing up I always prayed but I never thought of prayer as a conversation where I speak and then God speaks back until much later in life.

I saw my son slipping his one year old feet into his daddy’s shoes the other day. It reminded me that God as our daddy. I also thought, man he has big shoes and thankfully we aren’t required to fill them.

Then I thought about my son’s relationship with his dad. Anytime my husband is around my son runs straight to him with excitement and gives him a hug as fast as he can and then begins to interact with him. My son eagerly waits for his dad to speak and listens intently and talks back to him and then they play and laugh and act silly together.

I really believe this is how our prayer life should be with our Heavenly Father.  God is so eager for us to interact with him. He is waiting for us to approach his throne and bring our problems to him so he can give us the answers we are searching for.

That is why I love Hebrews 4:16. We can confidently and fearlessly approach our fathers chair just as my son boldly approaches his dad with confidence knowing he loves him unconditionally. When we approach his chair we have Gods mercy for our failures and mistakes so we do not have to be afraid. I just picture how much my husband and my son love each other and I think wow God I want to interact with you this same way.

“Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4:16‬ ‭AMP‬‬

“Father God, I thank you for loving me and being so approachable. Please forgive me for not approaching you with confidence and for not believing you have the answers I need. Please help me to remember you are loving and approachable all the time. I humbly come to your throne today and ask for you to interact with me throughout my day. Amen”
