Intro to prayer basics
Many of us have heard and perhaps some of have not heard about the amazing older grandmas that always sit in the back of church and pray! We don’t ever see there faces but hear about how there prayers changed people and brought people into a God encounter that lead to salvation. Well not all those women are old sorry to tell you and not all of them are women. Those hero’s of the the faith are all ages men and women just like you and me.
I want to invite you to take journey with me that involves risk and a little bit of dedication to learn what it is to pray. To learn really how to pray and how to make a life changing impact for you, your family and those you care about.
For me prayer is simple and there are not set rules about it. Prayer simply put has two parts! Communicating to God about your situations and the world around you and hearing from God about what he wants you to do about your situation and in the world.
I want to challenge to set aside a few minutes a day to start with just thanking God and really picturing in your mind what it would be like if God showed up in your situation today!
Jesus was the best example with showing us the importance of taking some quiet time out of our schedule to spend with papa God. Jesus was intentional with his time and had scheduled time to pray!
“After He had dismissed the crowds, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. When it was evening, He was there alone.”
MATTHEW 14:23 AMP
“Early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left [the house], and went out to a secluded place, and was praying there.”
MARK 1:35 AMP
I recommend getting a journal and writing out what you are thankful and how God is blessing you.
I know we all 5 minutes we can cut out of TV time or social media time. We all make time for the things we value! If you value your impact on those around you and you value what God has to say you will make the time a priority!
“Enter His gates with a song of thanksgiving And His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, bless and praise His name.”
PSALMS 100:4 AMP
“Be persistent and devoted to prayer, being alert and focused in your prayer life with an attitude of thanksgiving.”
COLOSSIANS 4:2 AMP
