Prayer series blog 1
Did you know there is a wrong way to pray? The Bible tells us not babble and ramble on and on asking for the same thing over and over again.
““And when you pray, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. So do not be like them [praying as they do]; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.”
MATTHEW 6:7-8 AMP
If we really trust God and what the Bible says we should have an expectation when speaking with him! We should first expect Gods presence:
“The LORD is near to all who call on Him, To all who call on Him in truth (without guile).”
PSALMS 145: 18 AMP
Sometimes I just sit quietly and play some soft piano worship music and wait for God presence to fill the room! Usually My mind quiets down and I feel a sense of peace flow over myself! Once I trust that God is near. I just talk to him. Sometimes I ask God to show me someone the way he sees them. Or sometimes I ask God what he wants to do about a certain situation. The thing about prayer is that when we come to God we should expect a response! And if our heart is right and our intention lined up with the Bible the answer from God is usually yes and amen!
“I have called upon You, for You, O God, will answer me; Incline Your ear to me, hear my speech.”
PSALMS 17:6 AMP
“For this reason I am telling you, whatever things you ask for in prayer [in accordance with God’s will], believe [with confident trust] that you have received them, and they will be given to you.”
MARK 11:24 AMP
The key to answered prayers is that we are praying according to the will of God. If we don’t spend time in our Bibles and pulling out the promises God has made us his people then how can we pray according to the word of God?
I really like taking scripture and inserting a persons name and praying that for them!
Here is an example of how I would do that:
Father God,
I pray that you Lord would give (insert name) mercy and that you would grant (insert name) with wisdom and knowledge. I pray that you would fill (insert name) with true knowledge of you! I pray that (insert name) eyes would be opened and that you would fill them with your light Jesus. I pray God that you would release to them a sense of belonging that (insert name) would be able to carry new hope and see how glorious there inheritance is in you! I pray that (insert name) would be able to comprehend that you are God who rewards and that they would be filled with hope looking towards the rewards that are waiting in heaven for them!
In Jesus name
Here is the verse that correlated with this prayer:
“[I always pray] that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may grant you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation [that gives you a deep and personal and intimate insight] into the true knowledge of Him [for we know the Father through the Son]. And [I pray] that the eyes of your heart [the very center and core of your being] may be enlightened [flooded with light by the Holy Spirit], so that you will know and cherish the hope [the divine guarantee, the confident expectation] to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints (God’s people),”
EPHESIANS 1:17-18 AMP
